Career Fairs: Plan Your Visit

REGISTRATION

Standard registration includes registration for two representatives, one 6-foot rectangular table, two chairs, lunch for each representative, on-campus parking and wireless internet access. An additional representative may be added for $50/per person. For more than 3 attending representatives, an additional table can be purchased for the standard registration price.

Registration does not automatically confirm attendance. Attendance will be confirmed upon payment for registration is received. Registration and payment deadline is two weeks before the event date.

Registration closes two weeks before the date of the fair. A waitlist is created once we are sold out or the registration deadline has passed. Organizations that are added to the waitlist and attend the fair are charged an additional $150 late registration fee. Late registration is subject to availability.

Cancellation deadline is two weeks before the event date. Career Fair cancellations must be in writing to [email protected]. There is a $50 required administrative fee for processing a refund. Cancellations received less than 2 weeks prior to the event and day-of-event no-shows are non-refundable. Failure to cancel does not negate financial responsibility for career fair registration.

Any organization that does not show up for the fair, without prior notice, will be prohibited from attending the following career fairs for that academic year.

*Attendees will not not have access to electrical outlets unless you contact us at least two weeks before the fair or indicate on your registration form that you request electrical outlet access. You will not be granted access to electrical outlets if requested on the day of the fair.

Tip: If you have not already done so, we encourage you to post your full-time, part-time, and internship positions on Handshake. Students planning to attend the fair will be searching on Handshake for available positions.

parking and citations

Please park in Parking Structure 3, LEVEL 6 ONLY (top floor of the parking structure). Parking passes are not necessary, but you will be cited if you park outside of this designated parking zone.

Employers who fail to comply with the parking instructions are liable and responsible for submitting their appeal directly to the Parking Services office. Career Services cannot provide assistance on behalf of employers who receive a citation on the day of a career fair.

If you have a DMV placard or plates and a valid SDSU parking permit, you can use disabled parking on campus. Drivers transporting a person with a disability may park in a DP stall as long as the DMV placard or plate is present. Should you require special accommodations please contact Career Services at [email protected]. Accessible parking, and routes around campus can be found on the interactive campus map.

PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION

Trolley Line

The Green Line Trolley connects east and west routes to SDSU. The trolley stops at the station located 55 feet underground. See the Trolley System Map for locations of each trolley stop.

Bus Routes

Buses stop on the SDSU Transit Center's street level mezzanine. From the bus routes—11, 115, 856, 936, and MTS Rapid Route 215—that currently service the campus, you can transfer to anywhere in the San Diego area. All buses on SDSU's routes are "bike buses" and provide wheelchair lift service.

What to Bring

  • Business cards or employer career site information
  • Materials describing opportunities with your organization
  • Sign listing what majors and what types of candidates you are seeking
  • Information announcing any scheduled information session(s) and/or recruiting date(s) at SDSU
  • Promotional items to be distributed to students (optional)
  • Bottled water

Tips for Success

  • Arrive one hour prior to the fair — check-in opens at 9 AM.
  • Brand your space with a table cloth, image displays, and giveaways to attract the most student interest.
  • Try to make your display communicate visibly what your company does—even if your company is relatively well known, students might not be familiar with the work you do.
  • Have a sign listing the majors you are interested in, even if you seek all majors.
  • Bring recruiters who are SDSU alumni, if possible—it’s a great selling point when current students see a former student thriving at your company.
  • Ask students about their peers that may be interested in your organization.
  • Take turns eating lunch—you’ll be able to relax knowing your table is still staffed.
