SDSU Leadership Minor Curriculum

Recommended Course Sequence

The minor in Leadership consists of 15 units. You take two 3-credit courses from the Science of Leadership Category, three 1-unit courses in the Art of Leadership category, and select two 6-credit electives from the list of approved credits found below.

Two Courses on the Science of Leadership

(6 Credits)

  • LEAD 205: Exploring Leadership (3 units)
  • LEAD 405: Capstone: Enacting Leadership (3 units)

Three Courses on the Art of Leadership

(3 Credits)

  • LEAD 307: Field Lab in Leadership – Community Service (1 unit)
  • LEAD 250: Field Lab in Leadership – Campus Leadership Experience (1 unit)
  • LEAD 404: Field Lab in Leadership – Internship (1 unit)

Completion of Two Courses from Approved Electives

(6 Credits needed from the following courses):

LEAD 307: Field Lab in Leadership: Service Learning (1 unit)

Pre-requisite: Students must have completed 15 units of undergraduate coursework at the university prior to enrollment in LEAD 207

Second Semester

Courses:
LEAD 250: Field Lab in Leadership: Campus Leadership Experience (1 unit)

Pre-requisites: (1) Students must have completed LEAD 205

(2) Concurrent enrollment in LEAD 250 and LEAD 205 requires the approval of the program coordinator

Elective Leadership Course (3 units)

Semester 3

LEAD 404: Field Lab in Leadership: Internship (1 unit)

Pre-requisite: Students must have completed LEAD 205 and LEAD 307

Students interested in pursuing the Leadership Minor should enroll in the first required course entitled ARP 205: Exploring Leadership. Next, obtain and complete a Declaration of Minor form available at the Registrar’s Office Student Services West, Room 1641 and deliver it to the Leadership Minor Advisor, Dr. Lisa Gates. You may drop the form off ARPE Office Suite in Education and Business Administration (EBA) 246. From there, your form will be signed and submitted on your behalf to the Registrar’s Office for processing. Once your form has been processed, it will show up in Web Portal.
