Student Organization Leadership Development Program (SOLD)

Purpose

The Student Organization Leadership Development Program (SOLD) is a three tiered growth model focused on individual student development and the organizational growth of Recognized Student Organizations.

This program fosters valuable personal and professional skills for students as they progress through their college leadership journey.

SOLD enhances student growth and development through membership in a University Recognized Student Organization.

Professional and personal growth is accomplished through campus events, activities, and trainings.

SOLD Tier Model

1. University Recognized Organizations:
Student organizations that meet all the University and California State University (CSU) requirements, as outlined on the RSO Application, will achieve the status of "Recognized".

2. Achieving Organizations:
Achieving organizations have reached the benchmark of a University Recognized Organization in addition to the following:

  1. The organization is in good standing with the university and is not on probation of any kind.
  2. The RSO participated in a student organization exposition.
  3. The RSO has updated and is using their Presence profile.
  4. The RSO has tracked a minimum of 50 service hours.
  5. The RSO hosted a permitted, on-campus event that was open to the SDSU community.

3. Excelling Organizations:
Excelling organizations have reached each benchmark of an Achieving Organization in addition to the following:

  1. The RSO co-hosted a One SDSU Community program.
  2. The RSO nominated at least one member for the SDSU Homecoming Court.
  3. The RSO has tracked a minimum of 100 service hours.
  4. The RSO uploaded a completed membership roster to their Presence profile by the end of the semester.

 

Incentives

University Recognized Organizations:

  1. Use of the SDSU name and logo.
  2. Access to the Event Application System (EAS) and free use of campus facilities.
  3. Ability to apply for Campus Program Funding, Student Success Fee funding, and others.

Achieving Organizations:
Achieving Organizations will receive the incentives of a University Recognized Organization in addition to:

  1. Special feature of the RSO in the Campus Life Weekly Newsletter.
  2. Spotlight of the RSO on the Student Organization Highlight bulletin board in Student Life & Leadership.
  3. Priority registration for Student Involvement Expo or Explore SDSU.

Excelling Organizations:
Excelling organizations will receive the incentives of a University Recognized Organization in addition to:

  1. Special feature of the RSO in the Campus Life Weekly Newsletter.
  2. Spotlight of the RSO on the Student Organization Highlight bulletin board in Student Life & Leadership.
  3. Enter into a raffle for work space/basement space for the following semester.

Review Process

The Student Organizations & Activities staff in Student Life & Leadership will review each benchmark for Recognized Student Organizations at the end of each semester. Student organization leaders will then be notified of their SOLD designation at the beginning of the following semester.
