The NCAA Men’s and Women’s Division I Basketball tournaments are right around the
corner — and your Aztecs are in the hunt.
The men’s team is widely considered a lock to dance once again, while the women are
also near the top of the Mountain West Conference standings.
Head to Viejas Arena on March 4 for the men’s team senior night game against Wyoming. Student tickets are free and mobile at GoAztecs.com/StudentMobileTix — log in with your official SDSU email address.
Then, head to Las Vegas and support both teams at the Mountain West Championships
— the women’s tourney is March 5-8; the men’s tournament is March 8-11. If you can’t make it to Vegas, you can catch the women’s games on
the Mountain West Network and the men’s games on the CBS Sports Network.

‘Permission to Come Home’ Discussion
Critically acclaimed author and licensed psychologist Jenny Wang will host a discussion
of her book “Permission to Come Home: Reclaiming Mental Health as Asian Americans” from 4-6 p.m. March 14 in Templo Mayor in the student union.
The book takes Asian Americans on an empowering journey toward reclaiming their mental
health.
Relax with Bax and Friends!
Join us and hang out with Baxter the therapy dog and friends from Love on a Leash, a nonprofit dedicated to volunteer pet therapy
certification. Relieve stress and learn more about mental health resources on campus
from noon to 2 p.m. March 7 at the Goldberg Courtyard of the student union.

Aztec Achievement Awards Nominations Due
The annual Aztec Achievement Awards recognize excellence in the numerous contributions
students, faculty, staff and community members make to SDSU.
Apply or nominate someone else for their outstanding contributions to SDSU or to Associated
Students.
The nomination window closes March 5, so visit Aztec Achievement Awards to learn more about the various awards and how to nominate.
WOMEN’S HISTORY MONTH
March is Women’s History Month, and the Women’s Resource Center will commemorate it
with a slate of empowering events.
The month kicks off March 1 with “The Gender Binary in Nature: A Talk with Dr. Joan Roughgarden.” Roughgarden, a trans woman, is an ecologist and evolutionary biologist whose work
addresses the biology of sex and rejects notions of biological essentialism — the
idea that sex is easily identified within biological features in the binary of male/female.
The month’s signature event, The Women in Leadership Conference, takes place March 9 at Montezuma Hall in the Conrad Prebys Aztec Student Union.
The full day of engaging presentations, panel discussions, interactive workshops and
networking opportunities will focus on issues females face in the workplace and equip
students with the skills and confidence needed to thrive as both professionals and
individuals.
On March 14, SDSU alumna Erica Alfaro, an award-winning author, keynote speaker and education advocate, will share her
story, recounted in her book, “Harvesting Dreams: Defying the Odds to Achieve the
American Dream.”

Get Ahead with Summer Session
Yes, you’ve still got two months of the spring semester left, but Summer Session is
right around the corner! Summer Session 2023 begins May 22, and registration opens
March 6. Get back on track to graduate on time or free up room to pursue a job, an
internship, student organizations, study abroad or other opportunities in a future
semester.

Careers in Chemistry Panel
Interested in a career in the chemistry field? Head to the Alan and Debbie Gold Auditorium
in the Donald P. Shiley Bioscience Center from 10:30 a.m. to noon on March 10 for
the Careers in Chemistry Panel — plus free bagels and coffee!
Part of the Careers in Sciences Panel Series, sponsored by Verizon, will introduce
College of Sciences students to professionals who work in chemistry-related industries
with the goal of informing students about the variety of careers. There will be opportunities

Wonder what your engineering major friends do all day — or hoping to better explain
the excitement of the engineering field? All are welcome at Engineering Design Day
from 1:30 - p.m. May 3 in Montezuma Hall at the student union. Check out student engineering

CELEBRATE JEWISH HERITAGE MONTH
For the second consecutive year, SDSU celebrates Jewish Heritage Month in March by
paying tribute to the generations of Jewish people who have helped create the fabric
of our history, culture and society.
SDSU is partnering with Hillel SD on a slate of events that will educate the university
and greater community about the achievements and contributions of Jewish people during

Register Early for SDSU GO! Trip to Belmont Park
Let’s hit the boardwalk! Join us for a visit to Belmont Park for rides, food and games
right along Mission Beach. Participants will receive one ticket for admission, a food
voucher and transportation to and from the park. Registration goes live at noon on
April 3.

Students are Designers at Black Fashion Week Show
Don’t miss the inaugural Black Fashion Week Fashion Show from 6 to 8 p.m. March 17
at Montezuma Hall in the Conrad Prebys Aztec Student Union. Students will model and
showcase their own designs that express the versatility and creativity found in Black
culture.
The theme of the fashion show is “amplifying Black beauty through the lens of fashion.”
The fashion show is presented by the Black Resource Center.

SDSU is transforming the Goldberg Courtyard at the Conrad Prebys Aztec Student Union
for a mini-field day! Drop by from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. March 22 with your friends to
enjoy a variety of games and activities.

Social Justice Symposium Tackles Hook-Up Culture
The 7th Annual Social Justice Symposium on March 11 will feature the theme “The Implications
of Hook-Up Culture on Mental Health and Body Image.”
The event takes place from noon to 4 p.m. in Templo Mayor at the Conrad Prebys Aztec

VOTE IN A.S. ELECTIONS FOR STUDENT LEADERS
Make your voice heard and elect next year’s student leaders by voting in the Associated
Students elections beginning March 20. Voting is on my.SDSU and will run through 7 p.m. March 23. After the elections close, head to the Goldberg
Courtyard at the student union at 9 p.m. for the election results announcement!

Provide Input on Proposed New Fee
SDSU is considering a new mandatory fee for out-of-state and international students,
which will be used to support financial aid, research and infrastructure, and academics.
Attend the information session held on March 3 to share your input.

RSO Symposia Coming April 30
Student leaders: Are you ready to renew or start your Recognized Student Organization application? Join us for the one-day RSO Renewal Symposia from 8 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.
on April 30.
New, transitioning and returning key officers can start their RSO applications, finalize
their bylaws and complete required training before the school year is even out! Registration

DISABILITY CELEBRATION MONTH INCLUDES FILM FESTIVAL
March is Disability Celebration Month at SDSU, and the SDSU Student Ability Success
Center is celebrating with events that promote the diverse culture and abilities of
people with disabilities.
The month’s signature event is the Superfest Disability Film Festival, presented by
San Francisco State's Paul K. Longmore Institute on Disability, from noon to 2 p.m.
March 15. Join an in-person watch party in Calpulli Center to view the short films
via Zoom, as well as a Q&A that follows with panelists involved with the films. For

The month also includes disability ally sessions on March 1 and 17 (register here) and a Zoom discussion on March 22, “Embracing Disability Culture,” facilitated by Toni Saia, an assistant professor in the Department of Administration,
Rehabilitation and Postsecondary Education.

Do you want to learn more about campus safety resources and how you can be proactive? Head to the Goldberg Courtyard at the Conrad Prebys Aztec Student Union from noon to 2 p.m. March 7 to connect with campus community representatives on safety resources. The fair is sponsored by Associated Students.
Intramural Season 2 Registration Closes March 8
Registration for intramural sports season 2 is open — soccer, basketball, badminton
and pickleball!
Use the Aztec Recreation app and click the Intramurals tile or register online.
Need a team? Select “Register as a Player” to sign up as a free agent. If there are
enough free agents interested in a specific sport and league, a free-agent team may
be created by the IM Office.
Registration closes at 11:59 p.m. March 8.
Live Well Aztecs 3v3 Speed Soccer on March 9!
Soccer players, this one’s for you! Head to the ENS 700 Field at 7 p.m. March 9 for
a night of fun 3-on-3 soccer, games and giveaways!
The event is open to all SDSU students. Winning team members get a $40 SDSU Bookstore
gift card, a championship T-shirt and a Blender Bottle Bundle. There’s also going
to be a Beat Fit Pros giveaway open to SDSU students!

FOOD TRUCK EATS, AZTEC NIGHTS STYLE!
Come enjoy some late-night eats March 17 on Campanile Walkway! Food trucks will serve
free food to SDSU students, including Tater tots, churros and ice cream, Spam musubi
and pork buns! Food for current students only between 10 p.m. - 2 a.m.; check-in required.

BASEBALL AND SOFTBALL ARE BACK
Spring is here, which means that the Aztecs baseball and softball teams have returned
to the diamond!
The baseball team was picked to finish third in the 2023 Mountain West preseason poll,
and outfielder Cole Carrigg earned a spot on the preseason all-Mountain West team
in a vote of the league’s seven head coaches.
Mountain West coaches picked the Aztecs softball team, which has won a record eight
regular-season titles, to finish second in the conference, one vote behind first-place
Boise State.

distributed on game day at the Tony Gwynn Stadium ticket booth. One free ticket per
valid SDSU student Red ID.
